Treatment for Infertility
Ayurvedic Treatment for Infertility in Pune | Dr. Mande's Clinic, Wakad
Dr. Priyanka Mande at Dr. Mande’s Clinic, Wakad, Pune offers Ayurvedic treatment for female infertility using Uttara Basti, Phala Ghrita, Nasya therapy and personalised Panchakarma protocols. She holds a B.A.M.S and M.D. in Ayurveda and treats root causes including Artava Dhatu imbalance, hormonal irregularity and poor uterine receptivity without synthetic medication.
Infertility is one of the most emotionally demanding conditions a couple can face. The tests, the waiting, the hope after every cycle and the exhaustion that follows if it does not work — all of it takes a toll that clinical language rarely captures. At Dr. Mande’s Clinic in Wakad, Pune, Dr. Priyanka Mande works with couples who are looking for a different kind of approach — one that prepares the body for conception rather than bypassing it.
According to the Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction, infertility affects approximately 10 to 15% of couples in India. In urban Pune, stress from IT work culture, sedentary routines and late marriages have pushed this number higher. What is less discussed is that a significant portion of these cases involve correctable underlying causes — hormonal imbalance, poor uterine lining, nutritional deficiencies and chronic stress — all of which Ayurveda addresses systematically.
Dr. Mande’s Ayurvedic fertility programme does not position itself as a replacement for all medical pathways. It offers a structured, natural intervention that works best as a first approach or alongside conventional care, with the goal of improving the body’s own reproductive environment.

How Ayurveda Understands Female Infertility
Ayurveda does not see infertility as a standalone problem. It looks at the condition through the lens of Artava Dhatu — the tissue responsible for female reproductive health — and the seven-layer metabolic system (Sapta Dhatu) that feeds it. When the upstream tissues are poorly nourished, Artava Dhatu suffers, and reproductive function declines.
In Ayurvedic terms, female infertility may arise from:
- Artava Kshaya: Depletion of reproductive tissue due to poor nutrition, chronic stress or post-illness weakness
- Vata Dushti: Vata imbalance affecting ovulation, egg release and uterine motility
- Pitta Dushti: Inflammatory conditions affecting the uterine environment, including conditions like endometriosis and chronic pelvic inflammation
- Kapha Aavaran: Hormonal sluggishness and poor circulation associated with PCOD, thyroid irregularity and weight-related infertility
- Beeja Dosha: Defects in the ovum affecting fertilisation and implantation
- Kshetra Dosha: Structural or functional issues with the uterus affecting implantation and retention of the embryo
This framework allows Dr. Mande to identify not just the symptom — difficulty conceiving — but the specific physiological reason behind it in each individual patient. Treatment is then designed accordingly, not applied as a standard protocol.
Ayurvedic Infertility Treatment Protocols at Dr. Mande's Clinic
The treatment at this clinic is structured in phases. Every patient begins with a thorough assessment before any protocol is started. Below is the clinical approach Dr. Mande uses:
Phase 1: Assessment and Root Cause Identification
Before treatment begins, Dr. Mande conducts a comprehensive assessment including Nadi Pariksha (pulse reading), Prakriti and Vikriti evaluation, review of existing medical reports and a detailed health history covering menstrual patterns, diet, stress levels, sleep quality and previous treatments. This assessment typically takes 40 to 50 minutes at the first appointment.
Only after this assessment does treatment begin. This is why treatment at this clinic is personalised — no two fertility plans are identical.
Phase 2: Shodhana — Purification and Detoxification
Before building reproductive tissue, the body needs to be cleansed of metabolic waste (Ama) that interferes with hormonal function and tissue nourishment. Dr. Mande uses selected Panchakarma therapies for this purpose:
- Virechana (therapeutic purgation): Clears excess Pitta from the liver and blood, improves hormonal clearance and reduces systemic inflammation
- Basti (medicated enema): The most powerful Vata-correcting therapy. Directly improves uterine and pelvic environment, and is foundational to Ayurvedic fertility treatment
- Nasya (nasal administration of medicated oils): Corrects hormonal messaging through the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. Particularly useful where PCOD, thyroid or hormonal disorders contribute to infertility
- Abhyanga (full body medicated oil massage): Improves circulation to the pelvic region, reduces stress hormones and nourishes deeper tissues
Phase 3: Uttara Basti — Targeted Uterine Treatment
Uttara Basti is a specialised Ayurvedic procedure in which medicated oils or herbal decoctions are administered into the uterine cavity through the vaginal route. It is the most direct Ayurvedic intervention for uterine health and is used specifically for:
- Improving uterine lining thickness and receptivity
- Correcting Artava Vaha Srotas (the channels governing egg production and menstruation)
- Treating conditions like thin endometrium and poor implantation
- Addressing tubal health in cases of blocked or compromised fallopian tubes
Uttara Basti is conducted at the clinic under Dr. Mande’s direct supervision and is timed according to the patient’s menstrual cycle for maximum effectiveness.
Phase 4: Rasayana — Rebuilding Reproductive Tissue
After purification, the focus shifts to nourishing Artava Dhatu using classical Rasayana (rejuvenation) herbs and formulations:
- Phala Ghrita: A medicated ghee preparation used specifically to strengthen uterine health, nourish the ovum and support implantation. One of the most used formulations in Ayurvedic fertility treatment
- Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus): The primary Ayurvedic herb for female reproductive health. Improves oestrogen balance, supports follicular development and reduces miscarriage risk
- Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): Reduces cortisol, improves thyroid function and corrects stress-related hormonal disruption that interferes with ovulation
- Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa): Classical uterine tonic used in PCOD-related infertility to reduce excess androgen and restore hormonal balance
- Kumari (Aloe vera): Corrects Pitta-driven menstrual irregularities and supports endometrial health
- Triphala: Improves systemic absorption of nutrients needed to nourish reproductive tissues through corrected gut metabolism
Phase 5: Lifestyle and Dietary Correction
No fertility programme at this clinic is complete without a personalised Ahara (diet) and Vihara (lifestyle) plan. Fertility in Ayurveda is a whole-body state, not just a gynaecological function. Dietary corrections improve the quality of all seven Dhatus from which Artava Dhatu is ultimately produced. Stress management through prescribed Pranayama, Yoga postures and sleep hygiene form part of every fertility plan.

Why Patients Across Pune and PCMC Choose Dr. Mande for Infertility
The fertility care at this clinic stands apart from general Ayurvedic practice for a few specific reasons:
- She is a lady doctor: Many women dealing with infertility feel more comfortable discussing intimate reproductive details with a female clinician. Dr. Mande's consultations are private, thorough and conducted without judgment.
- Infertility is treated as a couple's issue: While the primary treatment is for the woman, Dr. Mande provides guidance on male reproductive health through diet, lifestyle and specific herbs as part of the overall fertility plan.
- No pressure timeline: Patients are not hurried toward procedures. The first step is always understanding the root cause. If the case requires referral for conventional or surgical management, Dr. Mande will say so clearly.
- Transparent communication: Patients know exactly what they are taking, why and what to expect at each stage. This is especially important for fertility patients who have often had unclear communication from multiple previous consultations.
- Dual-session convenience: Clinic timings of 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM mean that patients from Hinjewadi IT companies or working couples in PCMC can attend without taking leave.
